Commune Café in Millenia Walk

It’s becoming arduous sometimes to find a new coffee shop that you’ll easily like just by the mere sight of it, especially if you’re in the city. The place is saturated with too much commercial coffee shops, like Starbucks and Coffee Bean. So when the Commune Café in Millenia Walk registered in my peripheral, I knew I hit another jackpot. This is a good café escape when around the Esplanade area. It’s one of those very few furniture-bistro type of coffee shops in Singapore, and add the interesting mall setting inside Millenia Walk – with French style lamp posts and high ceilings, the café area spilling in the middle of the mall walkways – you suddenly end up with a go-to coffee place for a quick coffee fix that doesn’t look too “commercial”.

The most convenient way to get to the Commune Café in Millenia Walk is through the Promenade Circle Line MRT. It’s a good seven-minute walk once outside the station and in front of the Millenia Walk mall. Just trod through the second floor of the mall and look for the semi-al fresco style of chairs and tables around the bridge walkways in the middle. You can easily trace the Commune Café logo from here. Funny though, when you look below, you’ll see Starbucks. Lol. Anytime is the best time to go here because despite being a busy café, there always will be a free seat waiting to be occupied.

This café may be bordering on the commercial type of coffee shops, but what makes it interestingly unique is the fact that it offers more than the typical café finds. It’s a bistro and a furniture place. They have really good coffee but they have a bit more to offer too. Its ambiance is the comfortable community spirit you can find. Because of this, you can say that it’s a café that can be for all types of activities, be it casual business meetings, study time, alone time, coffee dates, and even family time.

You can perceive how much social attention this café is getting from its coffee audience. There are a lot of soloists, couples, yuppies, oldies, families, and expats who would regularly hang out here. So, if you’re looking for that hidden but not so hidden kind of café, that’s easy to reach, easy to enjoy, and easy to get along with, then let the Commune café do it for you.
