4 Beaches Near Padang, Indonesia for a Quick Day Trip Anytime: Pantai Padang, Taman Muaro Lasak, Ocean Coast (Taplau), and Pantai Air Manis Beach

This COVID situation truly turned the world upside down ten million times. Needless to say, I am at one with you when I say that I sorely miss the summertime where you can just enjoy the sea, sand, sun, and sky. Not in that order of priority, in fact, even if you are not a beachy mate, you’ll still want to enjoy the summertime somewhere in the islands. As a guy who grew up in a country with more than seven thousand islands to choose from, I definitely crave for that food, festivity, and friendly vibe that only the real non-manmade beaches can offer. 


Nevertheless, the nearest ones are in fact in Padang, Indonesia. Not being too biased, but it cannot rival the likes of where I come from, but let’s all face it - sometimes, all we need is a day (or three) in a beach setting, to feel the soothing sounds and sparkles of the sea. It’s a way to relax, recharge, reframe, and remind ourselves of how lucky we are to still be alive, even at a time like this. So yes, let me start by saying that if you are looking for the nicer, cheaper, nearer beaches outside Singapore that’ll be worth your time - then it is about time to head over to one of Indonesia’s islands! The flight is quite short; it’s even shorter than an end-to-end train ride from Tuas to Changi airport! Haha!


Ocean Coast (Taplau)

Local residents often call Padang Beach as Padang Taplau. Taplau itself is an abbreviation of Tapi Lauik or the edge of sea. Byuuurrrr….I ran and then took shelter on Velocity Burger & Coffee terrace located on the edge of Samudera Street. The rain was so heavy, it made water splash slowly wet my clothes and backpack. While I was still busy exploring my gadget to determine next tourist destination which was still possible to visit. Pantai Padang

Take a break from the daily activities and various problems that exist, of course it is useful. Such rest is not only a means of resting the body, but also resting the soul from the stress of workloads and stresses of life. Sitting relaxed in Muaro Park is also a fun activity. because the eyes will be spoiled by the beautiful flowers and various types of plants that are arranged so beautifully. For visitors who come with their families and bring their children who are still children here there are also facilities available. No need to worry about them getting bored and asking you to go home. Because in the Padang beach area, there is a children's play area. Currently, Padang residents don't seem to have to bother looking for tourist destinations outside the region to enjoy a weekend getaway. Padang Beach now presents a different beauty than before. One of the famous spots is Taman Muaro Lasak Beach . The location of this beach is still in the Purus Beach area, Rimbo Kaluang Village, West Padang District, Padang City, West Sumatra . Muaro Lasak Beach, which is located adjacent to Padang beach, does have many points to capture pictures. In addition to enjoying the view of the beach with neatly arranged wave break rocks, the community was also seen filling the Peace Pigeon Monument which was recently inaugurated by President Jokowi on April 12, 2016. People who come to Padang beach and Muaro Lasak Beach always take the time to take pictures on the monument with symbols this dove. Pantai Air Manis Beach

Air Manis Beach is closely related to the legend of Malin Kundang in West Sumatra. Air Manis beach is a favorite tourist site for local and foreign tourists because it has low waves and beautiful views of Mount Padang. Beside playing in the water and swimming, visitors can rent a motorboat to visit Pisang Kecil and Pisang Besar Islands which are located some 500 meters from the beach. If you visit Air Manis beach, you should prepare extra clothes.
