Goodwood Park Hotel in Orchard, Your Next 5-Star Hotel Staycation in Singapore

Your Next 5-Star
Hotel Staycation in Singapore
Is finding a really good accommodation in Singapore quite
challenging? It’s a yes and a no. Yes, it is challenging if you are looking in
the wrong direction, and no it isn’t if you are particularly interested in
staying in something tried and tested. This lion city, which I have been
calling my second home for more than half a decade now, is full of surprises
and it’s no exception that I got surprised when I discovered the Goodwood Park Hotel (Chinese: 良木ĺ›é…’ĺş—) in the heart of Orchard road.

Perched in an amazing six-hectare
landscaped garden that could rival that of European styles, this five star
heritage hotel along Scotts Road is a welcome surprise. Initially built as a
club house for the Teutonic Club serving the expatriate German community
in Singapore, the Goodwood Park Hotel is
the very first hotel in Singapore to
have its own swimming-pool on its premises. What’s even more impressive is that
it’s also the very first hotel to have its own air-conditioned wine cellar.
When we arrived and checked in, couldn’t help but notice how high-end and Peranakan
garden-like the outside areas are. Interesting enough, the tower block
of the hotel has been gazetted as a National Monument of Singapore too!
After
being built in the 1900s, you’ll be impressed to see how the hotel has
transformed to what it is now – with three floors, more than two hundred rooms,
and a number of notable restaurants worth visiting: a coffee lounge,
L’Espresso, Gordon Grill, Min Jiang, Deli, and the Highland
Bar. It’s four wings – Lobby, Mayfair, Tower, and Parklane –
are all uniquely designed which makes it indeed an endearing pioneer of
the Singapore tourism industry.

Spent the night checked-in at
the Goodwood Park Hotel in Orchard to
celebrate two things – one is for a birthday celebration, and another is for
watching the World Cup. I am a fan of these two events, and the good thing is
that our room, being extra spacious and cozy made all the difference in the
world, and the view from our hotel room turned the party atmosphere into a
relaxing ambiance! We had some snacks and drinks, while quietly cheering for
our teams.
Afterwards,
we decided to go downstairs to explore the vicinity; although it’s not as
modern and as busy as in the other hotels around Orchard area, the
overall sense inside this five-star hotel is more of like an aristocratic
family gathering place. It should be your go-to choice if you are looking for
that good accommodation that will transform your tranquil escapade that’s
almost like a bit of a blast from the past, but can also be current enough to enjoy
a celebration or two.
