Around 40 kilometers away from Stockholm, the international airport of Sweden, Stockholm Arlanda Airport, is one of the coolest gateways to international air travel in Sweden, and I must admit, it’s one of the most enjoyable airports I’ve ever had the chance to visit. With four terminals, two of which are for international flights, you already know how busy and maximized this pitstop is; but surprisingly, the Stockholm Arlanda Airport does not seem to mind at all, since it looks so stress-free and well-organized.
I noticed how the Arlanda Airport Map does not seem to be so complicated and tiring, considering that they have four terminals and maze-like routes here and there. Of course, this can only mean one thing: lots of convenient features and easy access to newbie travelers and seasoned ones! Their management is doing a pretty good job of ensuring that the everyone is really making the most of their time at the airport. It’s no wonder that they are all set to becoming one of the leading airports in Scandinavia.

Of course, this can only mean one thing: lots of convenient features and easy access to newbie travelers and seasoned ones! Their management is doing a pretty good job of ensuring that the everyone is really making the most of their time at the airport. It’s no wonder that they are all set to becoming one of the leading airports in Scandinavia.
One of the excellent transportation options from the airport to the city center that I have tried so far is the Arlanda Express, an airport rail link connecting Stockholm-Arlanda Airport to the Stockholm Central Station. Their service is superb and their schedule is punctual, looks at par with the one in Japan! The train operates four times per hour and up to six times per hour during rush hour.
Plus, the travel time from the airport to the city center via the train will take less than 25 minutes, so that’s convenient, considering that you get to have your own guaranteed seat, and a wide window view to enjoy. Free Wifi too, if you don’t like to be too disconnected.
The standout feature for me as a traveler is the fact that they even have a mobile app where you can download, purchase a ticket, check the timetable/journey planner, and even travelcards/bulk tickets. So impressive, I haven’t encountered any airport train service like this one in Sweden, I hope Singapore adopts this idea too!

Not that it’s less of an option, but there’s also a bus transfer from the Stockholm Arlanda Airport to the city center, which will take about 35 minutes travel time. Maybe a 10 – 20 minutes difference between the train and bus options, so depending on your purpose of travel and need for “speed”, either option works.
Convenience-wise, I personally would choose the train option, mainly because the terminal is already connected inside their airport premises; the bus option will still require you to go out to the parking grounds and queue for the next bus to come in, put your heavy pieces of luggage inside the storage located at the side of the bus (or if it’s not too much, you can bring the luggage with you inside the bus).

After episodes of snow-washed train tracks and blurred images of buildings from the train’s windowpane, not to mention, finished catnaps from my friends, we arrived at the Stockholm Central Station via the Arlanda Express. One of the busiest I’ve ever seen, in front of the central station, stands an iconic statue of Nils Ericson, a prominent Swedish canal, and railway builder.
It’s true when they say that the metro stations of Sweden are fantastic, every station deserves a stop because of its unbelievable architecture, and the Central Station is certainly no exception to that! I am so moved (figuratively?) by the train from Arlanda Airport to Stockholm City Center experience!
