Food Anatomy in the Red Dot Museum: Designed for Instagram-Ready Good Times
If you think that the science in food designs (and much more in between) is something that is only achievable if you have celebrity chefs and Michelin stars scattered around the food place, I dare you to think again. We all know that in the worldwide array of food today, it is no longer just about the taste anymore. More often than not, especially in this era of experiential euphoria, it’s about food presentations, ambiance, and how instagrammable, snapchattable, or whichever story-worthy place it should be at (other than inside our bellies). It’s about the food place and food taste. This is where the Food Anatomy comes into play.
I like the underlying principle they have when they say that delicious is not enough and that every dish should look beautiful. Their unconventional approach to culinary plating, which looks like a graphic design project, is a surprise to the eyes and to the taste buds. It matches perfectly with their first standalone outlet outside the Timbre+, which is inside the Red Dot Design Museum – it is so fitting given that this THE house of concept designs.
As soon as you finish your Red Dot Design Museum experiential stint, you can walk-in and stay a bit longer at the Food Anatomy. You’ll be excited to know that the venue alone invites you to have your business meetings, friend catch ups, dates, or even happy hour sessions with your cool museum buddies here. This place not just serves coffee, tea, rice meals, sandwiches, pasta, and dessert, they also serve an overload of chill vibe that makes you feel at ease just hanging around in a museum spot, be it daytime or night. What a way to kill off stress after a long hard day.
"Good food, designed for a good time." Craft beer for 6 SGD, anyone? Or perhaps some lunch sets at 7.50 SGD – with two savories, dessert, coffee or tea? How about some super supper for 50% off all food? Good deal, aimed for YOUR good time indeed. Aside from the fact that this place is guaranteed for that visual-gastronomic experience that not every museum can offer, I am quite ecstatic to share that they share the best when it comes to coffee – my favorite - Chye Seng Huat Hardware - and roastery Papa Palheta. Espresso based coffee, cold brew, to filtered coffee, it’s all surefire! So it’s time to invite you to swing by this place, meet you at the café place? P.S. Check out the shopping area just beside the cafe as well.
