Discovering Doha, Qatar: Should You Walk Around this Sweltering Sunshiny City?
Discovering Doha, Qatar
I know you reached this post because you are probably like me, wanting to get the best of both worlds when it comes to traveling: city tour or walking tour, whether paid or free. Straddling the line between these two is indeed a hard choice, especially if you have so many considerations to check. So, the question is why not opt for both options? Should it be a YES for Doha, Qatar? Yes.
Doha is a heritage-rich area that has pretty much everything "Middle East" that will keep you full – from fascinating cultural sites, bargain shopping, to delicious culture finds. Best to try both if your can, via bus and via walking.
Bus, because as you know – it’s humanly impossible to walk around the whole day in Doha, Qatar. 9 AM and you can feel as if a flat iron is up close to your face – yes, it is that scorching hot. Walk, of course, is possible – even for a few hours. You can catch a few spots on foot in the day, and in the evening, of course – you can enjoy your time to see almost every nearby spot in Doha.
Thanks to Qatar Airways, I was able to enjoy their Complimentary Doha City Tour which included four key landmarks, namely: Firstly, The Pearl-Qatar, for the finest quality shops and restaurants. Secondly, Katara Cultural Village, a center dedicated to celebrating arts and heritage; Next was the Souq Waqif, for traditional jewelry, spices and handicrafts; and lastly, the Museum of Islamic Art, for its stunning architecture and beautiful seaside park.
Discover Doha because it’s definitely one of those Middle Eastern countries that’s unapologetically good-looking of a city. I would not mind coming back to this city soon! What a beauty!
