Rudolfinum in Prague: No Concert Schedule But Everyone Is Gathering In Front
Rudolfinum, Prague
The last thing that you would want to encounter when visiting a completely new city is some sort of eminent danger. When I visited Athens, some shooting has happened a few blocks away from our dinner place. When I was in Istanbul, some shooting has happened a few hours after we passed by the exact same place. In Prague, no shooting has happened. But there were protests happening in front of the Rudolfinum – media, police, and a whole lot of spectators were everywhere. It was pre-pandemonium, and it was almost exciting!
Of course, there was no pandemonium that transpired. Good thing. But it was an attention-grabbing occurrence for all of us travellers and tourists who have witnessed such event. The event took place in front of the Rudolfinum, which is a music auditorium and art gallery in Prague, Czech Republic. Neo-renaissance style in design, it is situated on Jan Palach Square on the bank of the river Vltava.
Interesting enough - the Rudolfinum's Dvořák Hall is one of the oldest concert halls in Europe and is noted for its excellent acoustics, and the building is always where the Prague Spring International Music Festival is held each year in May and June. The event we witnessed though was neither music, nor acoustic-driven, but it certainly was an “international festival”. Here are some pictures of the place pre-and-post event. I did not take pictures of the gathering as it was all over the local news already during that time! Would you like to be part of such event?
