Cafe Rouge in Mermaid Quay, Cardiff

Cafe Rouge, Mermaid Quay - Cardiff, Wales
One of
the first of the cafes in Cardiff that I couldn’t say no to was the Café Rouge in Mermaid Quay. This venue seems to
be a local favorite and inspiration for many folks visiting this area in Wales.
Established in 1989, the Café Rouge is actually an elaborate-looking restaurant
that combines French dishes, wines, coffees, desserts, infused with authentic
vibrant Welsh culture.

Atmosphere-wise, the Café Rouge is pretty spacious and cozy inside, with more than a few tables dotted around the edges. It has this get-chatting-some-more feel to the whole place, with some cool old pictures on the wall, giving it a café bar vibe. I think the spot in front of the windows, where you can get to see people walking by is a good spot to chill, to coffee, and to chat some more.
Food-wise, everything in Café Rouge seems to be fizzy, fun, and fantastic. They got breakfast, main, dessert, kids, wine, and beer menu for everyone to revel in. If I were you, if you aren’t going for the usual coffee choice, care to sample some champagne? Vin Rouge or Vin Rose? Apertifs are also a good pick. Throw in some desserts too, yes.
The place is a good recommendation for any event, day or night. Could easily transofrm itself from a hearty breakfast meet up place, a quick lunch date, or a corporate Champagne reception in the evening. It has several branches around the United Kingdom, but the one in St Davids II is a good spot near the quay.
