Marina Barrage: This is How Singapore’s Newest "Weekend" Reservoir Looks Like

Marina Barrage
Singapore’s latest downtown icon, the Marina Barrage,
is one of the most popular reservoirs in this city, which also happens to be
the first one to be located in the central area of Singapore. 10,000 hectares of catchment area, this is
the Singapore’s largest and most urbanized catchment. Now Is it worth the
hype, worth the visit? To answer this, first and only step: visit on a weekend
afternoon, bring a picnic mat and a whole lot of camera battery.

Locals and foreigners germinate around the Marina Barrage during this time, and there are generally nice things to do here that’ll merit a wholesome and winsome weekend occasion. Chill, relax, have fun with the rest of the chilling and relaxing crowd, yes. Aside from the Marina Channel and the 10% SG water supply this reservoir is known for, the Marina Barrage is a go to place for arts trails, food and restaurants, wedding pictorials, kite flying and picnic.
For the arts trail, you can visit the community wall, The Force of Nature, Beneficience 3, Wasser Zylinder, Gold Flow, and Splash @Marina to name a few. Highlights on the rest of Marina Barrage are the Boat Hoist, Marina Bridge, Central Courtyard, Pump House, and Water Playground. This place is one of the good ones in Singapore I’d recommend because not only is it a Superior Achievement Awardee kind of place, it also is free! Imagine seeing the Singapore skyline all complete and panoramic, while enjoying the crowd – not bad at all, yes. Recommended for families with kids, young yuppie crowd, close knit small cliques. “Dam” weekend-goto kind of awesome!
