Buck Tile St. Café, Clementi
Buck Tile St. Café, Clementi
New Year, New Café Hopping Bucket list. Checking off some bucket
list planning activities here in Singapore, before planning out the rest of 2015,
and incidentally this Buck Tile St. Café in Faber Hills Apartment is the
place to do it. Perfect place to plan out some things-to-do-before ideas as the
coffee shop’s name is an anagram
itself: Buck Tile St. = Bucket List.

Just
like any real life bucket list task, this coffee place is rather difficult to reach.
Located at the ground floor of Faberhills Apartment along Faber Drive, which is fine since
it’s quite next to the AYE. Less than five minutes of walking if you’re taking
alighting at the nearest bus stop. If you’re taking the train or taxi, quite
difficult to find, not many establishments are nearby. It’s this laidback
coffee shop with this intense red façade, and homey exterior overall that’ll
make you know you found the cafe. Best time to go is during early afternoons,
when it’s as if the coffee place is left all for you and your coffee to enjoy. Cafe solitude, yes.

There’s
a little bit more than enough space to squeeze around several mismatched seats
and wooden interiors inside, which is a resonant style for local cafes
nowadays. Loads of essentially vintage looking knick-knacks, from the rounded
clocks showing different time zones available in Singapore, to chalk-board announcements,
idiosyncratic menu, a gorilla stuffed animal, and their one-wall red cabinet
with carousels, and notebooks. Plus, there’s
a small corner where customers can pin up their own bucket list.

Lo
and behold – the coffee is excellent too. Deep flavor and a smooth foam. A good
size and served in perfect temperature. Complements well with the array of
cakes that easily runs out fast. Carrot Cakes, Bright Blue Velvet Cakes, Earl
Grey Cakes, Rainbow Cakes. Must try: Ohlala fries with truffle oil,
blue velvet cake, don’t go bacon my heart.
For a relatively new café here in Singapore, the Bucktile St. Café is the one to watch out for, especially if you’re looking for that quiet out-of-the-way-west-side but still ideal kind of coffee place, this is the one to tick off from your cafe bucket list. Easily likeable place for folks who don’t mind having their coffee shop all for themselves. Recommended for: solo session, one on one dates, executive meetings, family talks.
