My Art Space Café, Orchard Road

My Art Space Café, Istana Park - Orchard Road
I
came to a conclusion that I’m not a fan
of comfort zones, routines, and daily habits that don’t exactly help me
grow in one way or another. I hear a lot of people saying that they’ve changed
for the better, because of this, because of that, but it is one thing that we
say we changed, but it’s another thing when we see results. Results matter more
than effort, though both are of importance.
Same
with coffee cravings. Café
hopping in Singapore is starting to become a routine and a comfort
zone, and everything starts to look familiar and a dejavu. Though recently, I
realized there are still reasons for growth and newfound things – like the My
Art Space Café in the Istana
Park, Orchard Road. Results matter more than effort – this is a result of
one hell of an effort to find good interesting cafes. This café is a good
breakaway from the shell and stereotype we all know about cafes
in Singapore.

Hardly
noticeable at first, the My Art Space Café is just 2 minutes from the Dhouby Ghaut MRT Station and just
beside the Istana Park. Right in front of it is a beautiful view of a manmade
waterscape and a few emblems of Singapore. It’s right in the middle of the city
scene, near the Plaza Singapura
mall, just a few blocks away from the newly opened Orchard Gateway, Somerset and the shops along Orchard Road. Best
time to go here is during lunch to early afternoon coffee breaks, to enjoy the
sun and art space.

The
ceiling is covered with white drapes and every facade is walled with glass, so
that we can appreciate the water flowing from underneath the floor. Wooden
picnic chairs, myart space team complimentary copies, ginger beers, Portuguese
wine, summer berry ciders – this coffee place is certainly embraces lifeartstyle concept that redefines art
and lifestyles. I agree, the coffee here is sweet, like an elementary kid
trying to suck up to a teacher. Must try:
crafted beers, house coffee, and pastas.
This uniquely special café is like a getaway, a retreat house, a school, and a preferred go-to place all in one. It’s good for afternoon art dates, 1:1 girl talks, beer sessions with buddies, and even solo book reading al fresco style. It’s where you’ll see a lot of yuppie locals and a good mix of foreign expats hanging around and enjoying the hours here. It’s being in a newfound comfort zone and a soon-to-be daily habit.
