The Prive Café at Marina, Keppel Bay

The Prive Café is one of the best and most talked about waterfront café concepts in Singapore that you have to include in your café hopping itineraries. Having brunch in Singapore’s only Private Island – Keppel Island, and enjoying the whole Marina lifestyle adds some affordable luxury into your day. I did not expect the extra indulgence I got out from spending one weekend afternoon at this area – it’s the best decision anyone can make.

The Prive Café is inside the Marina premises of Keppel Bay. You can either take a bus around the Hardbour Front area and just walk around 20 minutes from the bus stop, or take a cab ride for more convenience. Walking from the bus stop though, gives you a chance to enjoy the impressive lineup of houses, floras, and a nice bridge overlooking the yachts parked everywhere – not bad at all. The best time to go here is during pre-lunch weekends, where all is just settling in and the whole exclusive dock setting makes everything aristocratic.

Prive means "private" in French and sure enough, everything about the Prive Café makes things look exclusive. The inside interior and outdoors exterior invites you to feel lazy and lounge around the area for long afternoon hours. The all-day breakfast menu and impressive coffee quality are the standouts of this café. I like the coffee choice here - pleasingly deep, bittersweet, and complex. No surprise at all to see all the classy locals, couples, big groupies, families, and expats spending long hours just sitting around, chatting, and people watching in this café.

The café-hopping scene here in the Prive Café is one of those few coffee shops in Singapore you wouldn’t want to miss. It’s recommended for chill weekend afternoons, alfresco alone time, first casual dates, and even multicultural group gatherings. It’s one nice budget friendly luxury place in Singapore you can try out every so often.
