The Most Important Garden in Athens That People Are Missing Out On

The National Garden
The #NationalGarden hashtag may not have been conceived yet, but it certainly deserves a hash for Greece. Maybe not immediately, but eventually? For one thing, almost every book and nook out there that knows and talks about Greece, and travel, and maybe culture too, would mention about their structures, their Olympic inspirations, their gods and goddesses, their foods. But yes you agree, there’s much more to discover and experience and Greece. And maybe, gardens and parks are on the last pages of this list.
But after visiting the National Garden in Athens, it’s worth reconsidering and even adding to one’s travel list forerunners. There’s history, there’s culture, there’s fusion in this one that’s unimaginably beguiling. You can see the European inspirations and styles etched around the area, but you’ll also notice the Greek elements through choice of plants, ancient ruins and fountains within the garden. This National Garden has it’s own central lake, botanical museum, children’s library, animal-bird collections, and Greek rock formations for everyone to appreciate. It’s very close to the rest of the world famous historical sites and parliament buildings, so it’s not even a chore or a substandard to include this as a must go.
This is what happens when you live in a soon-to-be garden within a city. All thanks to Singapore for making it’s residents see the relevance of welcoming parks and gardens not just for the sake of the roses and plants and all that. Hah. It’s a relaxed microcosm of one’s ongoing cultural scene, so to enjoy it is to enjoy one’s culture. (Ok... now that's overkill rambling. Lol.)
