Rambla De Mar at Night Like No Other
Rambla De Mar at Night Like No Other
We all live for legendary Friday night
outs, yes? And what better way to celebrate such freedom
than to have it in the streets of Rambla De Mar in Barcelona. At night, this bustling street
in central Barcelona has a magnetic character of its own. If in Singapore, we have Orchard
Road, or if in Manila, we probably have the BGC
area, or if in Tokyo,
it’s Shibuya, then in Barcelona, it’s this.
This area is packed with all sorts of Spanish.
It’s like a can of Spanish sardines full of cafes, kiosks, bars, restaurants,
landmarks, and other sorts of things.
What makes it like no other is the fact that
it’s packed with considerable volume of sights and culture. It’s not too
packed to the point of saturation. It’s just right. You won’t get
too culture-shocked, you won’t get too bored, you won’t get too discontented.
You can easily walk from one sight into another culture. Pretty easy. It’s
right for different kinds of people – locals, tourists, young kids, yuppies,
singles, couples, even seniors - there are certain spots for everyone.
Discovering De Mar should be on the pavement
mosaic by the famed Joan Miró and the Font de Canaletes
fountain, which are the much favored spots here in Rambla De Mar. Or, you can
also drop by the Teatre Principal, which is the oldest theatre in Barcelona.
While you’re at it, grab some local hot dog and a canned beer while walking
around too.
