Only In The Philippines: What to Eat When Revisiting Manila
What to Eat When Revisiting Manila
One of the sore things to want when
living in a foreign city is good old favorite foods. Especially during
monotonous noodle days, Nasi Lemak dinners, or
sandwich weekends, there are just days when you want to eat something so
accustomed to your taste buds, you can practically taste it even by just saying
the name of the food. I like the food
here in Singapore so much. I’m actually turning into my friend who can eat
the same order for one straight week. Lol. Yeah, food is good, what can I say. But
of course there are just some lapses when I miss Pinoy
food. There are a few Filipino food choices here in Singapore, but
nothing beats the true dishes found in PH.
So, as soon as my pangs of
hunger started going ballistic, I pulled out my long list of food favorites,
only to find out that I am passé with my choices. There’s so much food evolution, fusion, and budget finds happening in the Philippines. I’m
astonished by how things are now. Impressed, yes. Hungrier, yes. All my healthy
living mantra was left behind in Singapore, and all I could think of is just
eat like a hungry fat kid. Pinoy foods are the next best thing and seeing all
the choices, and flavors, I cannot help but recommend all of these – if you’re
visiting Manila
for the very first time, you might want to actually try these tried and tested
(old and) new Pinoy finds, some local, others from other cuisines but
transformed into a signature favorite. Don't worry, nothing exotic, nothing dirty. Only good food. Here are some of my favorites, from Sisig
Spaghetti, Thai Bagoong Rice, to Bangus Belly, Pork and Shrimp Siomai Street food.
It’s time to let your stomachs travel with never-ending hunger.
