Let's Go to the Philippines: How to Start the Year Late
How to Start the Year Late
Seven
long days after the official New Year of 2014 and I find myself frantically
catching up with you all. Happy New Year - how have you all been? The holidays
are just about to end from all over the world, but it sure seems like it’s
still a thing in Manila. Philippines
always seem to start the year late, because the holidays overlap with the New
Year, which is definitely a good thing.
I’m a
week late in celebrating the Christmas season
in MLA, but as soon as I stepped foot in PH territory, there were firecrackers
of laughters and carols of noises from every spot. Despite the seemingly
chaotic and dangerous environment, it always feels welcoming when in Manila
during holidays, and most especially during the Christmas season. Belens are
everywhere, boastful Christmas lights, and looped Christmas jingles are the
orthodox. And no matter how anti-social, or anti-Christmas, or anti-holiday a
person is, being in this kind of place makes you really enjoy the season. Just
glad that even with the expat life of travels and all, going home to this is an
absolute piece of good fortune. I
certainly don’t mind starting the year late here, Pinoy
style - sharing a dump of the good Christmas Manila stuffs that I’ve
gathered during my holidays in the Phils. Surprised by the amount of Christmas
decors I found everywhere. Mall rats, awesome Christmas finds, yes. If you’re too early in planning your next
year’s Christmas celebration, why not spend it in the Philippines?
Budget-friendly, travel-friendly, and I am most certain that you’ll enjoy the
tropical and comical holiday experiences here. Start the year early and end the year late? Yes.
