The Best Things in Zürich, Switzerland

The Best Things in Zürich, Switzerland
Zürich, the largest city in
Switzerland, which is the central hub of banking giants, metropolitan
railways, and home to one of the most important theaters in the German speaking community, happens to be our first stop in our larger-than-budget-life Europe
travel. Filled with a complete course of airplane food, and a whole lot
of time-zone induced catnap, we braced ourselves for some Zürich adventure.
Here’s a wrap up of some of the best things - the best must do, must go, must try, must
experience things - you should experience in the Land of the Alps.

Best Place in Zürich: Grossmünster
Grossmünster, which is known in English as Great Minster, is one three main churches of Zürich (the other's being Fraumünster and St. Peterskirche), and is by far the best church landmark you can find in Zürich. It has two jaw
dropping masterpieces that are quite unique across the whole of Zurich. First
are the twin towers that are Romanesque-style
in Architectural standards. The details are quite intriguing and the whole
stance looks very European classic. Second one is the 360 panoramic view point
from the viewing
platform on top one of these towers. It captures the whole essence of
Zürich, a 3D postcard view of the entire
city, with gradients of clouds and mountains as perfect backdrops.

Best Food in Zürich: Sandwiches at Kleiner Café
If rice is to Asia, bread is to Europe; sandwiches are an inescapable staple in Zurich. And after sampling
one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever tried in my lifetime, I’m beginning to
think that I must have been a bread enthusiast in my past life. The sandwiches
here are as artistic and as tasteful as their city, even the simplest ones.
Imagine having a fine dining meal with sandwiches. Even better, perhaps. Sandwiches
at Kleiner Café
is the place to be. Salmon mixed with young corn, unconventional yams mixed
with fruits, fresh veggies mixed with croissants – I’d come back to Zürich even
for this alone.

Best Bargain in Zürich: Swiss Made Watches
“Suisse", "produit suisse", "fabriqué en
Suisse", "qualité suisse" or the translations,
"Swiss", "Swiss Made", or "Swiss Movement", the
brand clearly speaks volumes. Did you know that there are a lot of countries
who tried to adopt this concept? Starting from as early as the 19th century,
Switzerland has developed an
unparalleled branding when it comes to their watches, and because of
this, a visit to this country won’t be as memorable if you don’t leave without
a Swiss watch of your own.
The prices here are considerably
inexpensive compared to buying it elsewhere, but that’s the best bargain
you can get for such a world class product. It’s about time you get an original
Swiss made watch from
where else? Zurich.

Best Interesting Experience in Zürich: Free Walking Tours
It’s difficult to get anything free nowadays so it’s quite
interesting to get a free walking tour of this kind of
quality. Funny thing though, it’s not the type you can avail from the airports
or hotels. This one is a unique character of its own. We were randomly
approached by a group of touring young bloods, who are eager to let us join
their small cult of culture vultures. It’s a
free tour around the city, with walks across every important corner, with talks
about Einstein and Casanova, and with
links with new friends along the way.

Best Favorite in Zürich: Night Stroll in Bahnhofstrasse
I’m gullible when it comes to yellow lights and night strolls,
anything with it - I’d say I like it the most. So yeah, what’s not to like
about this one? Nothing. Night Stroll in
Bahnhofstrasse gives a different kind of Swiss experience, a clear winner when it comes to the best of
Zürich. You’ll see trail of trams, queues of people, and luxury brands in
sight. It has the lights, sounds, and streets to relish, and it gives a clear
character as to what kind of society these Swiss people have. Nothing compares.
