Dr. Café Coffee, City Hall

Dr. Café Coffee
I am just astonished by the amount of travel and café enthusiasts I discover every time I follow a new off beaten coffee shop path. Dr. Café is one of those. The concept and history started from the founder, Yousef S. Al Rajhi, and his passionate search for the perfect cup of coffee - exploring the world and visiting different coffee houses was his way. He found it in Yemen and the rest was coffee history.

The Dr. Café Coffee can be found in Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore. In Singapore alone, they already have eight branches scattered around the city. Favorite spots would be the ones in the City Link Mall, 112 Katong, and the one in the Star Vista Mall because these are conveniently located in a sweet spot: not too crowded - not too secretive I-can't-find-it kind of location. Surprisingly, anytime of the day, even if there are so many people inside the place, you’re still guaranteed to find a decent seat one way or another.

If you’ve gotten so used to the coffee shop staples, like Starbucks, Coffee Bean, and Gloria Jeans coffee shops, Dr. Café may come across a little bit similar because of how the decorations, interiors, music, and interesting details are placed. It’s a little commercial on that aspect. Nonetheless, the coffee choices are the highlights here, so this aspect makes up for that part. Their coffee selections, from Single Origin, Signature Blends, to Dark Roasts, and Decaf, are pretty much packed with distinctive coffee flavors that are rich and sweet.

The crowd is as diverse as their coffee; there is no one character you can pinpoint when you are here. It’s a mix of locals and migrants in Singapore, mostly from the working class. The place is good for that weekday ad hoc meet-up, last minute social gatherings, travel hang-outs, or even casual interview sessions with a different employer.
Overall, the impression Dr. Café gives its audience holds true with what it believes in. It’s one of the good options if you’re looking for a one stop coffee shop for all-encompassing coffee choices. It’s close enough to the staple ones, but it’s not that exact, so you are still assured to have a signature coffee experience.
