Craft Bakery and Café, Holland Village
Craft Bakery and Café in Holland Village
Why so good of a Sunday hangout place, Holland Village? Yes, we found ourselves another newfound café that’s just recently opened at the heart of Holland Village, and it’s a nice one! If you haven’t heard of the Craft Bakery and Café, then you must not have heard of the famous molten lava cakes of 3 Inch Sin yet. Long story short, the Craft Bakery and Café at Holland Village is a branched-out story of that success story.
The Craft Bakery and Café is where the Cold Rock Creamery was before. From the Holland Village MRT Station, it’s a smooth ten minute walk. You’d know that you’re in front of this chill-out café once you see the al fresco area filled with modern-simple tables and chairs, with grassy floorings – throws in a very posh-backyard feel to it. The place looks bright and inviting, and it just calls for that Sunday-hangout-here-forever kind of place.
This café is just a refreshing and relaxing place amidst the pubs and night-life inviting restaurants around the area. Inside the café is no disappointment either. Its whitewashed walls, mirror accents, and light-bulb-inspired lightings, complements well with the space and everything else. The coffee and desserts, for me, are the add-ons to the awesomeness of this otherwise seemingly simplistic approach. Of course, who could resist a beautifully crafted Molten Lava Cake – or perhaps a Coconut Red Velvet Cake. Their coffees are of fine quality as they use Papa Palheta beans.
Apart from the excellent food choices and the budget-friendly price ranges (read: 5 – 15 SGD) that this nice café has, I really like how the café is situated amidst the hip hangout area in Holland Village. It’s simplistic approach makes it standout even more. I’ve seen so many expatriate families, local young yuppies, and soloists just hanging around the place for long hours (even longer, after we left), despite the lively atmosphere around the area. To me, this means that Craft was able to “craft” that good of an experience for people to stay and enjoy the café, instead of heading elsewhere.
