Singapore Photo Essay: Emerald Hill
One of the hardest things in living in a relatively small city is that sometimes everything suddenly looks the same. In Manila, the daily commute and leisure walk often turns out to be a mini adventure, because of all the hassle and side stories you encounter along the way. Either that or maybe the fumes and stresses from other people are so contagious; it makes you feel alive with anger. Haha Okay, that probably sounded a little off-putting, but it’s not always like that... of course, there are also moments of brilliance, where your hope in humanity gets restored. There are a lot of Filipino people who are friendly and accommodating, and even funny – all ready to help give balance to the whole concrete jungle scene that is Manila.
But here in Singapore, it’s a different hashtag (read: #firstworldproblems). As everything is always so systematic and organized, the things turn out to be like a routine already. However, even with this fact, there are still more than a few finds here that are quite unique and interesting. Like the Emerald Hill along the Orchard Road area where you are suddenly blasted off into a pensively beautiful neighborhood. It turns out to be one of those reminders that Singapore is small, but heaving with new tricks up its sleeves.
