The Benten Café, Jurong West
Benten Café in Jurong West Central
Next to travel, I’m a pasta addict by habit. When I was in Manila,
I never failed to try out the different versions of Spaghetti, Carbonara, and
Marinara in restaurants and it became a happy habit to have this with either
pizza or some fruit smoothie. Ahhh, good old gluttony days! I was dining in at
Benten Café that I chanced upon to do a repeat of the good old uninhibited
piggishness.
It’s located inside the Jurong Point Mall, and it’s at the same
floor as the movie house. Just beside the escalator, the Benten Café is
surrounded by retail shops, some sports-related, others cellphone shops.
Although it doesn’t have an enclosed area, the place looks like it can house
around 20-40 people.
I think restaurants with fusion of food ideas are great, and the
Benten Café is actually one of those. Its Japanese meets European. Their food
choices are either within Japanese or European inspiration. Not to mention,
their serving are glutton-friendly for people who live to eat. This is good
because their foods are quite flavorsome.
Another Japanese favorite? I know. Well, because the café covers two distinct syntheses, the versatility of the place is without doubt. The place looks like couples, travelers, groups of friends, or even solo food enthusiasts would enjoy. The place is not too stiff or intimate, and the prices are not too exaggerated. Foods here are of course, more than enough reasons to agree with gluttony - the carbonara and mango fruit shake are good examples of those.
