Singapore Photo Essay: Singapore Year 2006
I was going through some old photos in my hard drive, cos I have to do some clean-up before our much awaited epic trip later this year (on to that some other time), and I found these bunch of old school 2006 pictures of Singapore. Flashback Friday, seven years ago. I remember my impression of this country seven years ago, and not surprisingly, it still holds true today. Singapore is all for cleanliness. Singapore is actually not as dramatically different as how it is today. Yes, in terms of architectural landscape improvements, there are so many changes, but for the most part, the picture reminds me of how it was clean back then and how it still is.
In Asia, I think cleanliness is one of the hardest attributes to sustain because of so many factors (i.e. climate, culture, progression). Only a few countries are able to build credibility on cleanliness, such as Japan, South Korea, and Singapore. Indeed, a remarkable feat, which I hope can be replicated throughout the rest of Asia. Singapore is so nice even back then!
