Tiong Bahru Bakery in Singapore

The Tiong Bahru Bakery in Tiong Bahru

The Tiong Bahru area in Singapore is somewhat different from the “normal” Singapore city scene. You’ll find quaint houses, wider roads, and a homey-smiley kind of atmosphere. Pretty relaxing in itself, if you ask me. Just alight the green line MRT, ride the bus in front of the Tiong Bahru plaza, and in a few stops (and some more walking), you’ll find this packed but not too crowded haven.

There are so many good things about this place. It’s not your stereotypical couch-chill-out all day kind of place. It’s not a coffee shop, but it’s not your full-fledged bakery looking kind of place either. It’s Parisian inspired, very IKEA like, and at the same time, conducive for afternoon till sunset coffee or tea breaks. They bargain a multitude of excellent breads – from chocolate croissants, to almond tarts, to tasty cookies. Unlike the overused fraps and ice cold inspired drinks, here they offer unfussy coffee and tea drinks that will surely hit you with happiness.
Don’t get me wrong, this place gets too crowded too. But since it’s not found in every mall or everywhere, this only caters to select people who appreciate a fresh new approach to afternoon coffee sessions. It’s a place for transient tea breaks and swift sessions. Best time to swing by would be early afternoons to early evening. So next time you’re craving for some new air of break time, instead of your typical coffee houses, try the Tiong Bahru Bakery!
