Pha That Luang - The Great Sacred Stupa in Vientiane

Every transport here is a good option when we are talking about money, because everything is dirt cheap! Good deal, right? Reaching here, the first thing that you’ll notice, even from afar, is the regal gold arching the walls of the Pha That Luang. Yes, the Stupa! You know in China, they have that wow Great Wall, and in Cambodia they have their wow Angkor Wat. Well, here in Laos, it’s this. Wait till you get in - wow.

This place clearly embodies how these Lao people value culture, religion, and gold. The place is embellished with these three aspects. In fact, the different layers and intricacies of the stupa represent different things related to Buddhism. Having said this, the place is for sightsee and learning. No extraordinary rigorous activities can be done within the walls of this landmark.
First things first – bring sunscreen. The place is too open and the sun is normally in full performance. Sunscreen and shades and all that protection will help you enjoy the place more. Next, don’t forget to use your camera zoom. The best pictures of the place can be captured not only by panorama or wide angle vantage point, but even the zoom ones. Golden zoom! Be sure to go at the back end where you’ll find a small flee market with dirt cheap souvenir finds too. Mother of dirt cheap, it’s almost free!
