Henderson Waves Bridge, Southern Ridges in Singapore

For a place with no waves, oceans or seas to boast, why not create your own, right? Singapore did just that. Aqua Man, Little Mermaid, and all the sea creatures out their can now marvel at the very ingenious Henderson Waves – one of the most matchless translations to traditional water waves.

The tricky part is getting there. But still, considering Singapore’s genius of a transportation system, this shouldn’t be a hassle. Just align the circle line MRT to the Telok Blangah district and just take a bus ride going to the area. A few blocks walking (around 10 minutes) and you’re there. You’ll need to do a leisure hike before you reach the wave area. That’s also the time where you’ll have your anticipation be built up because of the different trees, floras, and flying faunas you’ll see around the area.

I’m a sucker for architecture, so this one is just a must go. It looks impressive even from afar and to be actually “surfing” the waves is more stunning of course.  You’ll notice the magnanimous structure and how it looks both daunting and accommodating to wanderers out there. Read: Distance: 0.3 km, Difficulty level: easy, Walking Time: 5 mins. Need not elaborate here, as the waves will speak well for itself. Land-surfing?

There are interesting fun facts to find trickled around the waves. You just have to be keen when you’re walking and enjoying the view. The place is not only free and tourist friendly, it also gives you a great stratosphere view of the area. It’s a good deal even if you spend five minutes there but try to wait a little longer, most probably until midnight, so that you’ll see the place light up with all these bright lights that are just magical.
