Paris at Night: For Free or For a Fee – 6 Things to Do Straightaway

Paris at Night: For Free or For A Fee – Things to Do Straightaway
One of the nicer and more romantic things to do in Paris is to explore it at night. Whether it’s your first day or last night in Paris, going on your own night tour of some sort and finding some interesting things to do that are less touristy is absolutely a good idea.

Paris has been my most visited EU
city so far, and I’ve always enjoyed exploring it at night. It easily falls
close to top three, next to the likes of Amsterdam and Berlin, where you are
guaranteed to experience so many things. Now, it’s time to narrow down the best
touristy and non-touristy activities to explore while in France. Here are my
personal picks:

Cafe De
La Paix

Inside you will find the impressive Second
Empire styling complemented by listed frescos and sumptuous gilding, making the
Cafe de la Paix exudes elegance, which has led to this venue being awarded a
Grand Heritage Prize in 2000. And although this restaurant was entirely
renovated in 2003, it still provides the same ambiance, but with a brighter and
less cluttered feel, whilst preserving the original decor with the restaurant
now classified as an historical monument in Paris. Read more at: https://www.eutouring.com/cafe_de_la_paix.html

Palais Garnier, also known as the Opera Garnier
Paris or simply the Paris Opera is an architectural jewel in Paris with a
fascinating history and prime status in Paris’s ballet and classical music
milieu. An ode to Parisian architecture, the Palais Garnier is an enchanting
inspiration for many and undeniably one of the most distinguished and grand
opera houses in the world. The Palais Garnier is home to the Paris ballet, so
anyone hoping enjoy a Parisian rendition of La Traviata or Mozart's The Magic
Flute, you know where to head! Read more at: https://blog.headout.com/palais-garnier-paris-opera/

La Défense neighborhood offers visitors a
different panorama of Paris. Packed with futuristic skyscrapers, this area
includes a shopping mall called Quatre Temps with a variety of restaurants and
retail and electronic stores. This department store, built in 1980,
was the largest in Europe during the eighties. As well as soaring towers of
glass and cement, the district houses an open-air exhibition of over sixty
contemporary works of art, squares, fountains, and hanging gardens. Read more

One of the most beautiful views of Paris at
Christmas can be enjoyed from the big wheel on Place de la Concorde. Ideally
located along the Historical Axis, the temporary structure offers a great view
of the Eiffel Tower and River Seine. Make sure you embark at night time on the
dot of the hour so you can enjoy the Eiffel Tower sparkling… just so romantic! These
are a few words about the Ferris Wheel at Place de la Concorde. Read more at: https://frenchmoments.eu/the-ferris-wheel-at-place-de-la-concorde-in-paris/

This small “owner run” restaurant makes for a
fun evening. It’s quiet and small in a side street. Owner has a dry sense of
humour so don’t by fooled by his comments! The food was really tasty and we
thought high quality. Couples and grown up families were eating here. Would
recommend this for pizza lovers too. We enjoyed the dishes of the day too. Give
it a try!! Read

Most
countries have a “freedom of panorama” law, which allows you to photograph
a skyline and include copyrighted buildings in your shot. So while you’d be
perfectly okay capturing a photo of Big Ben in London, you just couldn’t go off
and build a brand new version in your backyard without infringing copyright.
But the EU allows countries to opt-out of including this freedom of panorama
clause in their copyright laws. France has chosen to utilize this exception.
The copyright owner and creator of the Eiffel Tower died in 1923, so in 1993
the image of the Eiffel Tower entered into the public domain. That’s why Las
Vegas has its own Eiffel Tower, built in 1999. Read more at: https://petapixel.com/2017/10/14/photos-eiffel-tower-night-illegal/
