Now Do This: Walk Around Tromsø With It’s Guaranteed Spectacular Views

We all know that walking is one of the most underrated forms of exercise, but there’s something about my Neanderthal roots that makes me appreciative of walking. Lol. (well either that reason, of the very simplest reason that I live in Singapore, and people here are so fond of walking… fast.) Did you know that walking is the nearest activity to the perfect exercise? Yes, you read that right! According to one walking report, there are so many reimbursements that you can get from walking. While yes, I agree on that, I agree more if you happen to walk in places like the one in Tromsø. Even on a very cold snowy arctic month, this Northern part of Norway is unbelievably beautiful.

A very charming cosmopolitan city, Tromsø, you’d be rather surprised to discover that this nearly remote location is full of city-scenery kind of balance. There are a whole lot of photo-worthy, postcard approved vistas here, and you just won’t feel stressed out at all! Likewise, when I found out that there are easy walks within and around the city of Tromsø, I freely forced my bunch of blokes to brave the cold weather and explore the whole place on foot. yes, indeed. The routes that we did are very Google map friendly and covers all the main museums and the attractive streets with old wooden houses, as well as an easy walk around a picturesque lake near the center of Tromsø, where we decided to stop with what seemed to be forever. It’s absolutely jaw-dropping! The layers of mountains and wilderness that can be seen from a distance are inviting enough for you to want to either sit-and-stare or walk-over-there. Heard from the locals that there are so many easy and envious hikes with spectacular views in Tromso, which is of course, just wow.

Ever heard of the Midnight Sun Marathon? It’s a terrific experience for any marathon runners looking for somewhere different for their next race, and Tromso is that special place for you. Other than that, there’s also the Tromsdalen, Arctic Cathedral, Storsteinen and Floya walk route, the Prestvanet Lakeside Walk, and perhaps even the Arctic Cruise between Skjervøy and Tromsø is also an interesting option for walking? My troop settled on making snow angels on the streets, looking like the ridiculous Asians that we obviously were. Doing a lot of walking while the place was filled with snow was rather challenging, especially if you aren’t used to such cold weather. Nevertheless, it’s a welcome challenge for us, because we truly wanted to pretend to be snow monkeys, bigfoots, and sasquatch monsters… or maybe just create snow angels and be the goofy Asians that we truly are. In any case, Tromsø is such a breathtaking place to explore on foot, you have to do it for sure!
