Singapore Heritage Festival: Caldecott Hill
Singapore Heritage Festival: Caldecott Hill
Culture Night in Singapore returns from April 28 to May 14, 2017, to animate the corners and illuminate the spaces and places of Singapore; with the help of the National Heritage Board, among many other powerhouse sponsors, and with hundreds of events, happenings, performances, talks, tours and family fun across the city’s spots - all of which are absolutely free. It’s time to uncover lesser known stories of Singapore’s history – SHF Takes Over!
As well as the intense burst of culture night itself, organizers, this year have devised Caldecott Hill, Little India, and the Singapore River, it’s over three weeks of a wraparound program of events, activities, adventures, performances, and even a few surprises for every history junkie out there. Whoever said Singapore has not much history to showcase will most likely be flabbergasted if they attend any of the 110 mini festivities that the Singapore Heritage Festival has prepared.
My personal pick is this year’s highlight and iconic “fallen” star: The Caldecott Hill. This stunning setting is indeed a surprise, especially since it’s the very first time that I have entered this place. It’s actually a private housing estate, located along Thomson Road in the Central Region of Singapore, where television classics such as “Under One Roof”, and the “The Little Nyonya” were born. Aiyoyo!
Be entertained by a host of celebrity-like events, with ultra-cool stuff, and music performances. They got free cinema reruns, a DP Specialist Tour of the Zhongshan Park Integrated Development, and An Architecture Tour of the Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall.
You can also enjoy walking around the Caldecott Broadcast Centre and TV50 Exhibition. Mad props to the really entertaining exhibits, films and talks, tours, open houses, and workshops.
Culture night transforms the city into a family-friendly evening, where there is literally something happening around every corner, so perhaps you can save the date and come and join the fun for an evening of exploration and adventure, not to mention --- free tv exposure?
