The number of “mall cafes” that I
like hanging out with has steeply declined over the past few years since there
are a lot of third wave hidden-but-not-so-much coffee shops everywhere. Similar
to Manila, Philippines, cafes in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia are
still more on the “mall cafes” scene. Every local and expat alike has their own
favorite hunt, and it’s a pleasant experience to find a few good favorites in
Kuala Lumpur. One that I like is the Eight Ounce Coffee Co.
This has a particular emphasis on
the ambiance and the quality of the coffee, which is a good deal considering it’s
inside a mall. This coffee
shop stocks more than varieties of beans and house blends, freshly roasted and
gloriously aromatic! Lots of pastries being sold as well. The cosy wooden
atmosphere is particularly enviable, and I have no doubts why its being flocked
with so many foreigners and expats from all over the city.
If you are looking for a good place to be a regularized in the place, be it as a working space, hangout place, or just plain catch up corner, the Eight Ounce Coffee will offer great coffee, yummy sweets, not to mention, choco bars, salted caramel truffles and affogato with salted caramel ice cream, yes to all right?
