Thinking that Nyhavn
is nice, you’d be astonished to know that there’s an even nicer café somewhere
near it – the Charlottenborg
café. Nice because it’s nothing
too-touristy, nothing too busy. Just the right kind of decent food side, with a
little courtyard and modern fusion kind of atmosphere to it.
The café features designers like Martino Gamper and Arne Jacobsen
to name a few, which is quite fascinating because the prevailing impression of
the whole scene is that it looks like a mini modern home-depot kind of art
museum café. It’s quite popular with locals, which is always a good sign, but you’d
see a few visitors venturing in here, either by accident or by deliberate
hunting.
The food here is freshly prepared and surprisingly inexpensive. It has its own gallery and a very comfortable sitting area, indoors and outdoors. The coffee gives you the right well above average morning kick that you may need. I bet I could devour a book here in one sitting – perhaps the one with font size 8, 500 pager classic book, why not? Lol
