Climb Central - Indoor Rock Climbing Gym

There’s no way but up; in this case, quite literally. The Climb Central, an indoor rock climbing gym inside the Kallang Wave Mall, is one of the best activities to discover Singapore from a different vantage point. Sky high – ceiling high kind of overlooking vista, that’s only if you’re comfortable looking down while climbing up, yes?

A couple of weekends ago, we headed towards the Singapore Sports Hub to try and conquer our fictional fear of heights…or so we thought. It’s a battle between our overconfident minds and our scared legs, guess who won? The good thing about this place is that whether you are a first time climber, a hobbiest, or an experienced aficionado, there’s a place for you. There are safety briefings conducted by their ultra-friendly staff members (they’ll make you feel as if you are born to climb yesterday). Be it children, or adults, the staff members are quite patient and accommodating. The place is open for walk-in entries, and climbing courses.

We arrived early so that the climbing venue is left all to ourselves. The mall was quite empty, so there were no cheering crowds to pressure us. Nice to know they offer 4 sets for first timers, ranging from 30 SGD to 56 SGD, which includes registration, and day rental of harness and climbing shoes. What’s quite beguiling about this particular place is that it offers three climbing towers, with more than 45 climbing lanes. The BIG plus though are the dedicated auto-belay lanes, and the coolest top-rope anchor system. Safety first, yes. Makes you want to climb here back and forth, forever. They also offer promotions (tie-ups with other retailers and services) and events (such as Yoga Therapy for Climbers or Beta Kids Club) that may suit anyone’s curiosity.

The only thing we won over in this experience was our increased liking to try this out again. We were able to climb several (and almost fell) times in a matter of minutes. We were able to have a REALLY good work out time (nope, we didn’t fail) enjoying this indoor rock climbing gym. I’d recommend this place for BIG groups, preferably for people who seem to confident that they can conquer anything (i.e. like us?).
