Charlottenburg Palace: One of Berlin’s Best Kept Castle and It's No Secret

Charlottenburg Palace
Palaces are like museums
in “house” form, yes? Perhaps that’s just how I see it, but surely the Charlottenburg
Palace in Berlin looks like this grand relic abode that
is analogous to an art gallery museum. It’s the largest palace, the only
surviving royal residence in the Berlin city.

As a whole, it houses striking
decorations in baroque and rococo styles, including a belvedere, a mausoleum, a
theatre, pavilion, and huge gardens. What strikes me the most though are the
human-size paintings and wall intricacies that are both inspiring and honorably
envying.

The Schloss
Charlottenburg Charlottenburg was built as the summer residence of Sophie
Charlotte, the first queen of Prussia. Once inside, you’ll never be able to get
up and leave the room – your eyes will be instantaneously welded into the collections
of precious porcelain and paintings by French 18th-century masters.

Vases, tapestries and
other items representative of a royal lifestyle, yes. It’s no wonder that the
Charlottenburg Palace is one of Lonely Planet’s Top Choice for castles, palaces
& mansions when in Berlin, and I could not agree more. Here are some of the
photos I took from my visit to the Charlottenburg Palace. Enjoy some opulent
ogling!
