Edinburgh Castle: Life’s Not Complete Until You’ve Seen Scotland’s Iconic Spot

Edinburgh Castle
All I can attest to
you guys is Scotland is a favorite, my favorite. When you happen to be in Scotland, either for travel,
or business, or what have you, I can guarantee you that you’ll want to stay a
bit longer. I’m actually about to end my Scotland travel series, but if it was
me you’d like to ask, I like to do a few more posts! Much stories to tell, maybe
next time, soon.

What a better way
to end the series with THE most sought after castle in the Scotland: the Edinburgh
Castle. It reeks with history and courage. It’s this historic fortress
dominating the Edinburgh skyline; another overlooking view, this time from a
castle – man, if only I can be in Scotland forever! It’s an explosion of past,
present, and future vistas, and the Scottish sounds and storytelling on the
side sure adds smack to the whole entity.

Interesting fact: The castle is
built on a volcanic rock, as seen here from the West Port area, which dates
back to as early as the Iron Age (2nd century AD). Yet, the towers, buildings,
halls, and museums found inside the castle are preserved in such a way that
you’ll assume that it was cleaned just yesterday. Everything looks clean and
new. My guess is this is probably why it is most popular paid visitor
attraction in Scotland, with over 1.4 million visitors as of 2013 alone.

If you’re up for
some tourist-half-day kind of castle hunt, one that isn’t too overcrowded with
people, this is the best option. There are so many highlights, personal
favorites are: The Great Hall, The Royal Palace, The Stone of Destiny, Half
Moon Battery, and Scottish National War Memorial. Recommended for friendly
war-inspired kind of educational trip, with lots of high panorama views and
castle secret rooms worth checking out!
