28th SEA Games, Singapore 2015: Why It’s Better To Watch It Live

28th SEA Games, Singapore 2015
Singapore
has finally hosted the 28th
South East Asia Games. This is their third time to host the
SEA Games, and it has been a little over two decades (22 years!), since the
last time they hosted. And considering that SG is celebrating its 50th
Anniversary of Independence this year, I’d say Singapore is on a roll. The
concept of SEA games is a good one, having been conceived as a means to help forge
strong regional cooperation, understanding, and unity within the South East
Asian countries. This year, there are 11 countries included in the roster:
Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore,
Thailand, Timor-Leste, Vietnam. We all
like a good sportsmanship kind of overkill environment, yes?

Last
weekend, we did just that. We fed
ourselves with a whole lot of ear-piercing energy and battle cries from the
cheers and jeers of the audience during the SEA games rounds. Feels like you’re
in school again, or in one of Manny Pacquaio’s boxing matches – it’s the good
kind of crazy that will keep you up to your toes. We were able to watch quite a
few games, but this one in particular was almost Buzzfeed worthy. Never knew
that the Waterpolo Sport could be as intense and as wild as the other team
games.

The
crowd felt like they were the coaches, all cheering; the coaches felt like they
were military, brutally commanding in a supportive kind of way. Kudos to the
players who went out of their way… several times, back and forth, swimming and
floating… just to bag some goals and points for their home country. Witnessed
how Thailand (champion!) beat
Philippines… good game, good game.
