Thanks to Yuji for his inside dibs on the event!
At last, one over-the-top outstanding kind of rock and roll
escape, led by top notch vocals of Yuji Kumagai and the rest of Cashew
Chemists. One
of their first few gigs this year and they’d already rocked like there’s no
roll left! #whatshesaid.

January, 10 days straight, the Singapore Art Museum and SAM at 8Q
had a line-up of art and music events, from exhibitions, films, and late night
live music. One of the stratospheric highlights, of course, was the music session held at the museum’s
perfectly impressive 160-year old courtyards every night. They start off with
some original live music courtesy of Singapore’s talented homegrown acts such
as Cashew Chemists.

Friday, 9:00 PM or so, Cashew Chemists opened the floor with a
solidly electrifying performance of their hit original. Followed by the rest of
their songs from their EP: Road Trip, Common Equation, First
Kiss, What She Said. The crowd quickly got into the right mood, yelling
out drinks, bobbing heads, recording audios, and feeling entranced by the
amount of smoke and sound ricocheting around the courtyard.

Cashew Chemist acquainted everybody with a new song that’s set
to be released in their new album – song called “Mountains”, which is still a mountainous working title. Everyone
got a foretaste of the current deep psychedelic riffs and runs and lyrics and
style that can only be fulfilled flawlessly by Yuji’s vocals. The precision and
fearless style of drum playing is just beyond understanding! And, the lead
guitarist and bassist show insight and foresight in driving the band’s
musicality to a level that’s straightaway knockout. How incredible it is to be
within the presence of such band’s energy and beat –

Thumbs up to the Singapore Art Musuem for hosting such event,
and to Cashew Chemists for making it a fun night and keeping it real. Be sure
to catch them on their next gig. Rock and roll lives!
