The Eighth Note Music School Singapore: Is This Where You Should Learn Music From?

The difference between success and failure in any endeavor is a great team.
Yes.
It comes down to
having people who understand each other and work well together.
We all seek great teams that are not only family-loyalty-awardee, wolf-pack-level or best-friend-till-armageddon kind of situation, but also, great teams that will complement our relevance in existence.
After spending a month getting to know about the people behind this school, I can say that The Eighth Note Music School in Lorong Kilat is the best unconventional example you should look out for as basis of a great team.
And hopefully, the one you want to be a part of.

They are the
unlikeliest of examples.
They’re neither rich, famous, nor related to the best music school in the world… the people here are nowhere near superstars, noble prize winners, or geniuses. They seem pretty average on so many stereotypes, like your friendly neighbour.
But they’ve got soul and passion as big as eight planets (as big as Saturn, fyi) – and for a great team to come out of a place as small as a note, that’s just absolutely brilliant.

on so many levels. #DarkHorse

The tightknit of
people of The Eighth Note Music School, tied with their style of teaching music,
makes you feel like you’re hanging out with your buddies, comfortable enough to
learn at your own pace, or makes you feel like you’re destined for music
greatness any time soon, hopefully today.
The way they support their individual and group efforts can be seen through the students coming in and out of the school.

Students, ages 3
to 60, get the chance to learn ukuleles, classical music styles, rockstar
trainings, electric guitars, and pianos here. The teachers here are very
patient, tolerant, and supportive. They’re very adaptive – always able to change gears and refocus to help the
students understand music better.
Their 1:1 music coaching makes you easily pick up a tune or two in an hour or two, no matter how seemingly untalented you are.
The teachers here are multitalented goof balls, with a knack for sharing all music related quirks and quizzes that are worth your while.
Yes, expat moms, local dads, or Singaporean families bring their kids here to learn music, but I’d say the students who are enrolled here take away more than what they signed up for – they’re exposed to a great team.

A perfect idea of
what a great team should be like – in work, in traveling, in friends, in almost
everything else, we all have that. Which is why there’s also a great need to
try and learn from other unconventional great teams out there that don’t fit
the standard of greatness bill.
The Eighth Note, indeed worth the recommendation - where you should learn music from.

As a bonus also:
adding in a quick Q&A info for you guys from the Director himself, Mr. David
Ho – gracious enough
to share some of his surplus insights about The Eighth Note Music School.
When
and why was this school created?
David:
The school was created with the intention to help students find their love for
music through a relevant approach – mainly playing songs they like.
What
are some of the school's greatest accomplishments?
David:
We have a couple of memorable moments! Noteble one is an endorsement by
National Arts Council (Singapore) for our music programmes, and helping getting
a grade 3 piano student who was going to quit to turn up early and practice for
lessons through teaching him songs that he liked!
How
would you describe the school’s culture, curriculum, and student body?
David:
Relevance and FUN!
How
would you describe your teachers in this school?
David:
They are very relational, understanding of the students’ needs. And they are
relevant and fun too!
What
is your most favorite course being offered in your school and why?
David:
I would say it’s the guitar – portable, encouraging (because it’s easy to pick
up) and you can play it just about anywhere!
