Noir Art Specialty Coffee Café, Mackenzie Road

The Noir Art Specialty Coffee along Mackenzie Road is one of the very few coffee shops here in Singapore that surprisingly serves Hot Belgian Dark Chocolate drinks. This signifies art and skills in the café world, so it’s no surprise to see all the foreign coffee connoisseurs and enthusiasts clustering around this elfin café. Though, the Noir Art is not in the roasted coffee, but in the actual fictional art being retailed by the coffee place. If you’re looking for a small coffee place that offers larger than life quality roasted coffee choices - Noir Art Specialty Coffee is it.

Just a good three-minute walk from the Little India MRT Station, Exit A, it’s just along the Mackenzie Road, within the REX Cinema and Soluxe Inn radius. It’s near backpacker hostels and a few HDB areas so you’ll definitely see a lot of residents and travelers spending some time here. Best time to go – mid afternoons when all that’s left is you and your good roasted caffeine induced drink.

9 Seater inside, 6 seater outside – there are sacks of coffee in front of the entrance and an eye catching roaster that greets everyone who enters the café. Free paperback readings in a small corner of the café and the Noir Art are displayed for everyone to see. Look for the “A Yawn is A Silent Scream for Coffee” which will just make you nod in agreement. The offer cold brews and signature coffee that are quite good. Mostly chocolatey and rich nutty taste. Must try: Rose Cheesecake, cold brew flat white, and Hot Belgian Dark Chocolate drink.

One of my determining factors when a café offers good coffee is when regular foreign customers come back – and this place is one of those very few around the area. In a normal setting, locals shroud local cafes and very little foreigners get to enjoy the coffee place – but not this one. It’s recommended for regular family coffee sessions, simple alone time with a book and small group coffee talks. Let the specialty coffees here wake you up properly.

  1. I love the way you have described the cafe expats should visit. On the other hand, if you are an expat and plan on moving to Singapore, do check out www.placematch.sg. I found it to be very useful in finding a place.
