Coffee Stain by Joseph, Kuala Lumpur

Coffee Stain by Joseph in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur
Just
because here in Singapore, it’s all about café hopping and more cafes, it
doesn’t necessarily mean it also applies to its neighboring countries like
Malaysia… or so I thought too. The café
culture scene in Malaysia is as quite massive and it’s all centered in
Kuala Lumpur. Every corner, you’ll see some sort of KAFE inscribed somewhere. If
you’re lucky, you’ll chance upon the Coffee Stain by Joseph,
which has been shortlisted for the Best Coffee in the Time Out KL Food Awards
2013.

So
far, there are two coffee places that I know of about this, one’s inside the Publika
Mall in Solaris Dutamas and one’s inside the Fahrenheit 88 Shopping
Mall. Café opens around 9:30 in the morning but it’s best to
go here during the afternoons ‘cos that’s when most of the baristas are
complete, and you can already request for 3D art service and such.

Interesting
to note are the beans being used in this café – they’re especially roasted in
Singapore, with a KL-based Japanese master overseeing all the tasting and
blending. Their coffee choices are good – they have the espresso bar, where you
should choose the Gibraltar latte and the ristretto. They have the slow bar,
which is the single origins of the day where it will be brewed like v60,
siphon, chemex, aeropress, and machine. If you’re looking for a coffee place in Kuala Lumpur that’s not too quaint, not too commercial, but too applaud-worthy, then it’s the Coffee Stain by Joseph. It’s a good weekend place for some solo coffee, some couple coffees, and some small group gatherings. Hey Joseph, what’s up with this coffee stain? Lol.
