Haunting Tombs of Qutub Shahi Kings

The Qutub Shahi Tombs place is probably one of the most haunting of places you’ll ever find in Hyderabad, India. It’s seven tombs worth of Qutub Shahi rulers during the Qutub Shahi period in Indian history. This place is held in great veneration, and goes back as early as the 19th century. It’s intended to be a tomb garden, with domes that are made of blue and green tiles, and with sarcophagus and structures with intricately carved stonework and are surrounded by landscaped gardens.
You see, what’s so haunting about the Tombs of Qutub Shahi Kings? Let me be clear first, and shed some light on the haunting part. Not saying this just to scare the shit out of you, but have you ever been in a place that gives you the creeps even if it’s completely uncalled for? I’m never the type who easily gets scared nor do I believe in superstitions, so receiving some goose bumps, in a scary kind of way, in broad daylight fyi, is kinda new.

Haunting in the scary sense – yes, cos even if the place looks preserved and being maintained in as much as they can, there’s this air of foreboding that can only be triggered by one’s passion for horror flicks. Yes, guilty as charged.

Haunting in the melancholic sense – yes too, cos even if the place looks deserted and alone, you can perceive the unobtrusive essence of royalty that is still present inside the tombs. Yes, that’s what traveling is supposed to be for.

Haunting in the real-life danger kind of sense – yes also, cos even if we were approached by an old local who said he was an official tour guide and offered to take pictures and all… then suddenly turned ballistic and extorted huge amount of money once the ‘tour’ was over. Yes to bringing looooose coins and small bills. This isn’t the scariest of travel experiences I’ve had, but it sure is something for the books.. I like this about India - it’s one of those city-tour adrenaline filled encounters you may or may not enjoy! I don’t mind! #yoloawesome
