Yellow Cup Coffee at Central Square, Havelock Road

We all have our own “this reminds me of the time…” kind of something, be it a red pen that reminds us of the time we wrote our first love letter, or be it a pair of shoes that remind us of the time we chased the last train headed towards the next city. Yes, and more often than not, no matter how silly it may seem, it sticks to us and we enjoy it so much. The Yellow Cup Coffee at Central Square Singapore, Havelock Road is a perfect description of that kind of something.

It reminds me so much of HIMYM. Even if it’s not a yellow umbrella, nor is it in New York, in real life this café is where Ted Mosby would probably be spotted, this time with a yellow cup! The place looks as if it it’s ripped out from the HIMYM series and everything about it is just lege…wait for it, dary.

How to get to the Yellow Cup Coffee at Central Square

The Yellow Cup Coffee Cafe at Central Square, along Havelock Road is in between Chinatown and Clark Quay areas, so you can easily pick and choose whether to take the Northeast line – Chinatown or Clark Quay station; Downtown line – Chinatown station. Either option is worth at least 10 minutes of walking. The coffee house has been setup in a place that really looks suitable for its overall New York inspired theme. The best time to go here is during weekend afternoons between 2:00 PM onwards, where everything is dialed down and you can really enjoy the place and yellow cup experience.

What to do and see in the Yellow Cup Coffee at Central Square

Two favorites among the many highlights you can find here. One, the café uses top line La Marzocco Strada EP 3Group Espresso Machine, which is the god of all coffee machines – this fact plus the good coffee beans - from Ethiopia, Uganda, El Salvador, Indonesia, and Nicaragua to name a few – you know you are just up for something deep and solid. Next is the Croiffin, which makes you think twice about your liking for the famous Cronuts. Imagine Croissant Swirl + Cinnamon + Custard Filling = you get Croissant + Muffin.

Yellow Cup Coffee Favorites

I think Ted, Barney, and probably Lily, will agree with me when I say that I’m glad someone came up with this brilliant café idea. The Yellow Cup Coffee is an instant inspiration, any time any day. It’s a good recommendation for chill, dates, catching ups, meet ups, and even some alone time. You’ll see a lot of locals and expats yuppies savoring their yellow cup experience – makes you realize that this café – from NY now in SG, is certainly worth the wait.
