Wheeler's Yard

It’s hard to argue at this point. The Wheeler’s Yard in Toa Payoh is one of the hippest cafes you’ll ever find in Singapore to date. Where can you find an authentic bicycle atelier slash warehouse slash coolest place on the block? Only along the industrial park off Balestiar Road, where you’ll also find the most chill of locals, couples, and expats enjoying the good coffee selections and all-day breakfasts in Wheeler's Yard. It’s a good café-cycling experience just being here and you wouldn’t want to leave this un-ticked in your coffee shop checklist.

Though the nearest MRT station is the Toa Payoh Red line, you’ll need at least fifteen minutes of searching thru the HDBs and street signs along the area. It’s a relatively hard find, considering everything looks industrial and warehouse like around the vicinity. The metallic blue garage gate and sole bicycle on top of the roof are what you need to look out for to know that you’ve reached this place. The best time to go here are during late afternoons to evenings, when the place is packed with all the cool people you’ll like to give small talks with.

You would like to believe that this place is packed with cycling enthusiasts and coffee addicts as well, because everyone stays for so long. That’s how much the place is enjoyed. The environment exudes comfort and inspired looks from people. Though the bicycles and other cycling gadgets are copious, the amount of chats and laughter from the crowd – be it soloists, couples, expats, Saturday groupies, yuppies, and locals – are more relevant. Good thing the coffee was really good and the space was really huge.

If you’re looking for a city hangout hideout that are only for the coolest, but are still open to everyone else, better cycle your way to the Wheeler’s Yard. The coffee-cycle shop is massive enough to accommodate everyone’s appetites and expectations. The place is recommended for chill, dates, big gatherings, vintage type casual encounters.
