The Roosevelt's Diner & Bar in Outram Park is one of the easiest likeable places at any time of the day. It’s a dead giveaway for any yuppie looking for a very decent place to hangout, like the ones you find in New York, that’s not too crowded with older folks. Turns out, this bar café place is just right for these kinds of crowds – they are all about admirable options of spirits and beverages from their menu – from coffee blends, whiskies, cocktails and housepours. Indeed, a perfect choice for some weekday night out break.
Just like the ones you can pick along Raffles area because it’s near the MRT, the Roosevelt's Diner & Bar is easily accessible from the Outram Park MRT Station. It is literally just outside the exit. But the good catch here though is that it’s almost hidden – you can’t easily find it, because it’s not in the most common MRT exit where people usually go to. Nice, right? ‘cos that makes it seem like an exclusive place. The best time to get here is during early evenings, when the sun is about to set and the entire bar lights are just about to be lit. Awesome awesome ambiance, with awesome awesome setting – pompous paintings, fearless furniture – like the ones you find in Europe.
The part you’ll surely like the most about this place is the fact that it doesn’t seem like it’s trying too hard on the details. Everything is kept modern and minimalistic, which gives a chance for the foods and drinks to stand out. The local owners really knows what kind of World Class quality Singaporeans are looking for, and it’s good how both locals and expats embrace this place. Food-wise, you can’t go wrong with their gourmet sandwiches, but the pesto order is a must try among anything else.
This place is one of those places that you would instantly want to add to your regular hangout habit. It’s a good recommendation for chill sessions with the guys, intimate first dates, classy social gatherings, and some first meet up group events.
