L’etoile Café, Farrer Park

L’etoile Café in Farrer Park
I may have lost count on the number of cafes I’ve explored this year alone. Uhh, maybe sixty plus? But it starts to get a little bit more serious, once you find so much novelty and quality in cafes here and there. Serious enough to make you want to search the best out there. And oddly so, there are still a few standouts that are worth coming back for. The L’etoile Café in Farrer Park is (without question) one of the definitive best in this side of Singapore. A lifestyle shop cum cafe with Japanese-French influences, who wouldn’t want that?

Café hoppers will find it very easy to reach this coffee place, because it’s a good ten minute walk from the nearest purple line MRT station, Farrer Park. The area is almost secluded and may seem like it’s one of the streets you can find somewhere at the Emerald Hill – quiet setting, with some establishments lazing around. The L’etoile Café, with its two storey renaissance-like structure, hides in a corner street. The best time to go here are during early afternoons to evenings when the sunset gives a new look for this café.

It’s hard not to appreciate this coffee shop at first sight. It’s quaint, it’s quiet, and it’s quasi-perfect. The overall atmosphere inside the first floor alone is very likeable, and you wait till you reach the second floor – it makes the first floor look shallow.

Then there’s the describing moment – the coffee detail. The caffeine aroma alone can whip your senses into submission. One sips, then long hours of coffee conversations after, you know you found a new favorite. Up until now, I’m being completely honest with you when I say that I still CANNOT forget how much I liked my hot mocha coffee drink from this café. It is one of those rare high moments that’s not caused by caffeine, but by happiness. The consistency and chocolate aftermath are so solid; you cannot help but feel obliged to like it so much. This place is indeed worth recommending for dates, artsy – classy – hidden chill sessions with friends, family, and even good quality alone time. It’s one of the best out there.
