The Brat – Bratwurst, Beer, and Great Tasting Charbroiled Gourmet Sausages
Bratwurst, Beer, and Great Tasting Charbroiled Gourmet Sausages in Singapore
The Brat in Plaza
Singapura is the unofficial this-is-why-I’m fat kind of cheat food when
around Dhouby
Ghaut. You can never go wrong with a good burger, beefy fat and
charbroiled taste would just get anyone’s hormones into a macho sexy giddy
childlike contented feeling. That’s just the way things are. But I bet you know
that so are sausages? I became a sausage convert when I gorged around the best gourmet sausages in Europe, from German Sausages, Dutch
sausages, Polish sausages, Italian sausages, coupled with a glass of beer. Brat and beer, a combo that
can surely take down a good burger. And it’s an aha moment to discover that
there are places in Singapore that have that kind of offering, like the Brat
café and grill.
The Brat is a quick and easy go to place
because it’s just a few steps from outside the Dhouby Ghaut MRT
station. It’s at the ground floor of the Plaza Singapura, where all the
rest of the good easy and fast eats can be found. Any time of the day is good
to go here, ‘cos people just normally queue and take their food elsewhere; but
there’s also a small area for dining in, good for the casual chow ala European
budget style.
A Bratwurst, or Brat, is a sausage
– finely chopped meat (brat) + sausage (wurst) combo. And that’s all that
you’ll see and smell around this place. It’s like being in a European Street
Food area, where small kiosks and stalls prevail. You’ll see different kinds of
gourmet sausages and burgers to choose from, with fitting beers to couple with
it. You can go sausage only, sausage with roll, or a combo meal, choosing from Swiss Cheese pork, Smoked Aussie Beef, Beer Bratwurst, and Spicy Italian Pork to name a few. Their awesome 100% Australian Beef
Burgers are also something to try out, Avocado and Bacon Burger being an
instant fat favorite.
Trying out European sausages and food choices are often so expensive and so amiss when it comes to taste and quality. The Brat is one of the stubborn ones that would stand out in terms of price and taste quality. The place is a good recommendation for casual chill dates, all guys – all girls gatherings, and even solo beer sessions, joining the rest of the European folks and some groups of locals who would flock this place.

Brat doesn't mean meat though -- braten means to fry. So Bratwurst = fried sausage.
