Stop and Stare at Starbucks Zürich

If it weren't for the Starbucks Christmas Open here in Singapore, I'd barely remember the last time I tried a cup of coffee from this coffee shop. Ever since café hopping has been a thing we do here in Singapore, there are just too many coffees from various different coffee places to try out. Workdays and weekends have been extra wakeful, because of bean discoveries and brewing inspirations encountered - from small scale cafes to the most elaborate ones. Starbucks, a once indispensable part of the work life existence, started to become an overlooked desire.

But, found my way back to Starbucks. I just had a free frap here and I got transported back to Zürich. It has regained its coffee high status that’s worthy of credit. Starbucks is the largest coffeehouse company in the world, and Zürich has one of the best Starbucks stores you’ll ever find across Europe. In fact, In Zürich alone, Starbucks has twenty stores spread across this sprawling city. That's how needed it is here in this city. In every important corner and place, you’ll find a green twin-tailed mermaid logo smiling back at you.

Starbucks in Zürich is not only known for its blonde, medium, and dark roasts, and certainly not only for its seasonal favorites, nor the Starbucks mugs, tumblers, baristas, but it also happens to be the place where you find people sitting, stopping, and staring. You may hear the occasional chats, and some silences as people sip their coffee comforts, but for the most part, people in Zürich spend time in Starbucks gazing blankly from the vistas of their seats. And, I think it’s really a great idea to do so, seeing how the fairly busy skyline and beautifully interlocked streets are in Zürich. Plus, seeing how the different people from all walks of life mesh with Zürich’s setting, is a pleasant spectacle to see. The authentic normal city life view from this vantage point is quite good. Sipping a cup of your favorite coffee with this whole thing, ahhhh, soul-food at its finest. What to do in Zürich ? Do as the locals do, yes it is coffee. I’d encourage you to grab an iced caramel macchiato and set a date with this green twin-tailed mermaid when in Zürich.
