Singapore Photo Essay: No Riot Little India
Singapore Photo Essay: Little India with No Riot
Ever since the riot
in Little India happened, which triggered a whole
lot of opinions about racial
disputes, historical firsts, and foreign
and local underlying issues, I couldn’t help but go back to some of the
good times that Little
India is known for. There may have been nuisances and inconveniences
caused by South Asians, but it’s nicer not to generalize or oversimplify things
because of it. Little India is still a good place to learn about the dynamism,
history, and taste of Singapore as a nation.
Singapore is always the model city to everyone who knows about
this red dot – it’s an example of orderliness, multiculturalism, and societal
balance; and truth is, it’s no different in Little India. It’s that must go and
must experience place to every kind of traveler who would like to experience a
slice of Singapore. There’s so much food to try, from curries, to grind spices.
So many things to check out, from electronics and other Bollywood cheap finds.
So much places to visit, from Hindu temples to mosques and other places of
worship. I still wouldn’t pass up a travel opportunity to visit this spicy town
yet. I have been to Little India countless times, for work, for travel, for
food, for accommodation even, and I can say that it’s an interestingly nice side
of Singapore to be in. The riot may just be a one-time incident, but the
respect and value that Little India has over Singapore is long lasting. Paying some homage to the best of Little India here. No hate,
only appreciate.
