Swiss Airlines: In the Middle of Swiss and Stars
Switzerland Photo Essay: In the Middle of Swiss and Stars
It’s between past midnight and a few time zone
adjustments on my watch when I peeped through the window, while everyone was
asleep. We were asked to pull down our window shades when we climbed up the
clouds. I heard the captain saying “nautical miles” and some “feet above sea level”. It meant something,
but not so much to me at that point. I just stared eagerly at the blurred white
cross sitting in silence amidst the dusky night sky. Swiss Air, yes.
And, eagerly. Very much eager. Eager to finish the long haul
flight to one of the best continents on the face of the earth: Europe. The beautiful stewardess from Swiss
Air brought me back to reality. She offered some drinks to keep me
company. Italian wine and Swiss cheese. Already intoxicated by the idea of this
midnight happiness, I couldn’t think of any better company to keep me contented.
One full bottle and I was wrong. Streaks of stars and veins of city lights formed outside the plane’s window and I don’t know if the heavens were just showing off, or if I was just more contented with how things were. I haven’t seen such kind of exceptional grandiosity before. Getting intoxicated at the centerfold of this sight is a sure winner.
Drinking in the middle of the stars, in the middle of the night, in the middle of all anticipation, is one of the best simple joys that travel life has to offer. Everyone SHOULD try this airline. Kudos to Swiss Air, you deserve the limelight for creating such an awesome experience!
