Anti-Bread Allergy at Kleiner Café, Zurich
Anti-Bread Allergy at Kleiner Café
I rushed through the clinic after having been threatened by some
silly allergy. All red and uncomfortable, I stopped itching when doc said that
I might be allergic to bread. Though it’s still not sure if it’s a permanent
thing or a one-time deal, I refused to take this seriously. It’s bread for
crying out loud. After two decades of allergy-free life and after countless
days of subway sandwiches, this just can’t be happening now. It’s the 21st century
for crying out loud. #seriousrandomrant Now that I know that all the budget and
travel life is worth saving for Europe’s
bread choices. And, I even blame myself for romanticizing about the next
time I’ll be eating bread in Kleiner Café. It’s the first and the best thing I’ve tried
in Zurich.
There are so many bread societies to choose from in Zurich, but the Kleiner Cafe is a clear standout. For one, it’s just
across the famous Limmatquai. While basking at the solace and sweet taste
of Swiss bread, you can enjoy the awesome view of the Limmatquai and the rest of Zurich’s central busy
streets. The best way to go here is by
foot, during early mornings, where you can enjoy the sunrise of everyday
routine. It’s near the Central train
station and it’s just a few
minutes of walking from the central area
in Zurich.
It’s the good combination of cold Swiss morning air and the warm
homey atmosphere inside the Kleiner Café that makes the stay a pleasurable café
experience. Simplistically decorated by different signature breads and
chocolates. There’s a clear huge harbor for their different kinds of breads,
which looks more like contemporary art rather than food. I can’t even imagine
how flour and water were able to produce such kind of simple, yet overly delectable
looking food. Then again, the breads introduce different kinds of things – even
the smell of fresh baked dough brings a special kind of world full of comfort
and class. White bread, brown bread, wholemeal bread, rye, sourdough, hemp, and
gluten-free breads – no amount of allergy should defy such kind of bread
choices.
The Kleiner Café is a place good for chilling, dates, small random gatherings, studying, and some simple alone time when in Zurich. The bread delivers a good argument when it comes to its tasty quality and it’s certainly one good way to experience Zurich for the first time. Another favorite part here are the bakers and owners who are more than accommodating enough to take you in a bread joyride experience, through their recommendations and stories.
