The Connoisseur Concerto in Clarke Quay

I’m beating myself up right now for not writing about this café any sooner. TCC is the go-to coffee place when reveling around Clarke Quay area. This café isn’t new, but it sure looks like one. TCC is the leading chain of art boutique cafés in Singapore, which has been around since 2003. They’ve been very well accepted, primarily because of their comprehensive top-quality coffee selections and gourmet foods. The TCC café is always ready to bring the finer things in life through art plus coffee. Good combination, yes?

Though you can find the usual coffee shops around the area, like Starbucks and Coffee Bean, TCC is the center of attention here in Clarke Quay, most probably because it’s literally right where the party’s at. It’s rubbing elbows with the different bars, pubs, and gastronomical top picks here. From the nearest Clarke Quay MRT station, it’s located beside a famous Turkish ice cream shop and overlooking the river scene of Clarke Quay. Best time to go here would be during evenings; it’s a good time to “party-people” watch, while enjoying a sophisticated cup of coffee. Ahh, enjoying d’ life, yes?

You get immediately transported into those classy cafes found inside malls. It has this distinct ambiance that’s perhaps elicited by the choice of music and art inside the café. The coffee takes you into a mild-caffeine hallucination, the feeling that makes you forget all your problems and that brings out all the relaxed party-mood-but-not-so-much state; where random thoughts you have about life and parties are the things circling in your head, even if you’re not a party person. It’s the perfect place for small yuppie social gatherings, almost-chill dates, and maybe some extroverted alone time.

TCC is a coffee place you’d slowly but surely like very much. It’s one of the few popular and commercial cafes that stand out not only because of its good choice of art (i.e. structures, centerpieces) and coffee, but also because of the type of crowd it draws out. It wells up all the good feelings one can get out of a good cup of coffee, especially if it’s the TCC in Clarke Quay.
