Red Dot Design Museum - The First Contemporary Design Museum in Asia
Red Dot – The First Contemporary Design Museum in Asia
Wanting to find the best concept of art around this city, we immediately found ourselves eagerly eavesdropping inside the Red Dot Design Museum along Maxwell Road. This ruby-colored building keeps more than handful of exhibits on product design and communication design. It’s where you’ll find works of winners of the international red dot design award, which is one of the world’s largest leading design competitions.
The Red Dot Design Museum is best travelled by train. It’s only a few blocks away from the Tanjong Pagar MRT station, and it sure isn’t difficult to find, because of its palpable color. As it only opens around 11:00 in the morning until 6:00 in the evening, the best time to go here is around early afternoons. You’ll spend at least a good one full hour to see all the contemporary art work and maybe even shop some.
One of the best things about the Red Dot Design Museum is that it’s a concept within a concept. Okay, that sounded a little too conceptual. But the general concept of the museum coincides with the concept of the designs being shown. The place highlights all the award winning futuristic designs from the most talented of designers and companies from around the world. You’ll see overly interesting details of art and day-to-day gadgets.
The coolest thing about this museum is all about its transformation concept. It transforms into a creative playground every so often. What I mean by that is for designers and artists, this can be a dream idea because what better way to show off your art than in one of the best art venues known to Asia? It can turn into an event place for live music, solo exhibitions, and creative workshops. It’s the overall impression of the Red Dot Design Museum that makes it one of the best places to experience art in Asia.
